WSA counts more than 100 members, located in 9 districts; Tirana, Korça, Lushnja, Shkodër, Gjirokaster-Permet, Elbasan, Kukes, Fier-Lushnje, Berat. The districts have their own representation in the Advisory Board, which is composed of 9 members. The management structure of WSA consists of three leading entities, namely the Executive Director, Decision Making Committee and the Advisory Board.

WSA was established in 2006 by a narrow group of women specializing mainly in the area of agronomy. Obviously work was limited in matters such as; capacity building and awareness-raising with main focus placed on agriculture production methods and technologies.

Early work and engagement includes arrangement of no cost activities such as open lectures and demonstrations, trainings, meetings with small groups of women intended to help WSA members create a better understanding on issues and to enhance cohesion between WSA and affected communities and target groups. This approach has given WSA the opportunity to establish a close relationship with the real concerns of women groups, as well as to obtain a broader network of contacts with a presence in almost every region of Albania.
